Chair's Welcome
MATLOCK LUNCHEON CLUB 2024/2025
In July this year I took office as Chairman of the Matlock Luncheon Club. My term will be until July 2025.
Our meetings are held at the Peak Edge Hotel on the outskirts of Chesterfield on the 2nd Thursday of the Month from October 2024 to July 2025.
The Matlock Luncheon Club this year celebrates its 60th Anniversary; many things in the world have changed but the Luncheon Club remains constant and well supported. The Club celebrated in style with a ‘posh’ party attended by members, past and present, sharing memories and anecdotes.
Our meetings for the forthcoming season commence at 12.00pm on the 10 October 2024 with an excellent lunch and follow thereafter on the 2nd Thursday of each consecutive month until the AGM in July 2025.
Our varied menus cater for all dietary needs and the luncheons are followed by an excellent speaker each one covering a different topic
In the summer of this year, we heard a speaker and her daughter, both nurses, describing their experience as the ‘Windrush’ generation: we’ve also had musicians from the Sinfonia Viva and an enlightening talk on transporting assistance to disaster zones from the UK. Our programmes are, as seen for the forthcoming year, exceptionally varied.
The full programme of speakers is on the website.
We aim each year to have a summer outing to a venue of interest and a theatre trip.
The Luncheon Club provides a wonderful opportunity to meet with existing friends and to make new ones.
Once a member there is an opportunity to bring a paying guest which regularly encourages new members if we have spaces.
The cost of membership this year is £65.
The lunch fees are £31 for members and £33 for guests
On this website you will find further details of how to join and who to contact.
I look forward to welcoming you!
